The Review of our Mattishall Neighbourhood Plan is now well underway. An article in the December issue of Miscellanea contains more information on what the current plan does and has achieved, and why it's important that we carry out a review to keep the plan relevant.

This is your opportunity to have your say. Please complete our 3 minute online questionnaire or alternatively fill in the form within the Miscellanea magazine.

If you'd like more information or if you'd like to get involved in the plan making process, please contact the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group at mattishallnp@gmail.com or come along to a future Parish Council meeting

Mattishall Neighbourhood Plan Review

Volunteers - Your chance to get involved and help shape the future of our village.

The Neighbourhood Plan is used by the Parish Council and Breckland Council to guide development in the village particularly when considering planning applications.

Our Neighbourhood Plan is now five years old and needs to be updated.

All Mattishall residents and businesses will be fully consulted as we progress the review, but we now need to establish a Steering Group to manage the process. The Steering Group will be made up of three Parish Councillors and three or four Mattishall residents who could give a few hours of time each week. Particularly we would like a volunteer administrator (a key role), alongside others who could give occasional advice and support.

This is an exciting opportunity to help influence how Mattishall develops in the future. We welcome expressions of interest from anyone who'd like to be involved or to find out more about the Neighbourhood Plan.

Our current Neighbourhood Plan can be seen here:

November 2021

We had a really good turnout 12 representatives from parish councils and neighbourhood plan working groups attending the Cabinet meeting this morning.  We would especially like to thank District Councillors Ian Martin and Roger Atterwill firstly for succeeding in returning the Local Plan paper to Cabinet to be reconsidered and for their opposition to such a long Local Plan review period.

The Cabinet unfortunately voted unanimously to approve option 1 (the longer review period). The impact is that we will have a Local Plan and a Neighbourhood Plan that will carry diminishing weight from November 2024 until the new Plan is adopted at some point on or after Q4 2027. It is worth noting that the majority of Plans slip time wise, therefore Q4 2027 is purely an aspirational date.

May 2020

At the end of May we said goodbye to Luisa Cantera.

Luisa had been the Parish Council Clerk for 14 years and was a tremendous asset. She could frequently be seen out on her bike keeping an eye on numerous projects the Council had initiated. In 2009, she won the Clerk of the Year award in recognition of her hard work and dedication. She has been a great support to the Councillors over the years and more recently given a smooth and efficient handover to the Lorraine, our new clerk. We wish Luisa our warmest wishes and great success for her next steps and thank her for all of her hard work over the years.

Highways England has organised a number of consultation events locally between 26 February and 8 April.  The events are about the proposed A47 North Tuddenham to Easton dualling scheme which will improve the A47 by relieving congestion and improving safety.  The scheme will create 9 km of new dual carriageway, two new junctions at Wood Lane and Norwich Road, and the removal of the existing roundabout at Easton.  This consultation is an opportunity for you to share your views on the proposals.  View details of the consultation events.
